Magic Kingdom Tips

Check the transportation section for our tips on the Monorail and Ferry, that’s the biggest part to know!

Circus Land currently has a very quiet sitting area deep in the back. One is covered and open, and the big tent has dark indoor seating. There’s no music or anything in there, so it’s great if you just need a quiet break in air conditioning.

Our favorite rides:

  • Mountains (Splash, Thunder, Space) are all a must-do.
  • Haunted Mansion (I worked in the one in CA, so it’s just like home to me, and not overly scary for kiddos). Just don’t drag your kids in there if they’re sensitive. Go on it without them first if needed, the line has been pretty short for the last year. This is a very slow ride.
  • Country Bear Jamboree might be the best thing in the park. It’s basically a show put on by drunk bears, done by vintage-aged Disney. If you don’t like alcohol references, this isn’t for you. But we don’t drink at all and I’ve always loved this show. California replaced this show with the Winnie the Pooh ride, so it’s really special to see it in Florida still. The day will come where people will only talk about the show that once was, and you want to be one of those who got to see this.
  • Carousel of Progress. It’s definitely outdated, but we see it several times on our Florida trips. I can’t tell you why I like it because it’s sort of odd. Maybe it’s the dark room with air conditioning? It’s a moving stage show, much more of a show than a ride.
  • Little Mermaid and Winnie the Pooh. Both are beautifully done, slow rides.
  • Peter Pan. It was a Disneyland Original, so it’s one of those “gotta do it” rides. Also a slow ride with nothing scary.
  • Jungle Cruise. Another Disney Original that you just have to see. Slow boat road with a lot of dry humor.
  • Tiki Room. Yet another Disney Original! This is a show put on by talking and singing birds. SPOILER: There is a clap of thunder and the room goes dark for a second, and that might scare little kiddos, but it’s only a few seconds and then it’s cheery again.
  • Pirates of the Caribbean. Boat ride, pirates, gotta see it!
  • Seven Dwarfs Mine Train. Beautiful, really different roller coaster movement, no faster than the Barnstormer if your kiddos can handle that. We end the day here if the lines are long (see notes on Park Closing).

Yes, it’s a LOT! But you can do it! Even with long lines, we can typically hit almost everything in one day. Lines usually get shorter as the day gets later.
