Animal Kingdom Tips

Animal Kingdom Tips

This is the best park for a hot, busy day. Plenty of shade, lots of meandering and enjoying the scenery. You’ll feel like you’re in Africa most of the time, so much that it’s easy to miss how much effort Disney put into making it like that.

Must do’s:

  • Roller coaster, a crazy one. I LOVE this ride, but I love coasters.
  • Dinosaur, if you have kids. It’s a slow ride with hydraulics in the ride vehicles, so not great if you have back/neck issues. My girls never found it scary. A lot of people love it (my daughter does, I don’t). If you’ve been on Indiana Jones in CA, this will be very familiar!
  • It’s Tough to Be a Bug. This is a fantastic show, definitely a family favorite!! Certainly one of the scarier Disney shows. Maybe the scariest? See it before dragging in your young kiddos. I can’t remember watching the show without a toddler crying somewhere in the audience.
  • Kali River Rapids. Great raft ride! It’s closed a lot of the year, so get on this if you have a chance!
  • Kilimanjaro Safaris. YES. It’s like THE Animal Kingdom ride. It’s a safari ride, of course! Like, a real one with real animals and information. We’ve been on it maybe 30 times and I’m still learning new things because each driver has different details.
  • Pandora Land: I don’t know how to emphasize this enough, but if you found your way to Florida, it’s because your purpose for being there is to do these two rides, Flight of Passage and the Navi River Journey, and to see this land. Night is absolute best if the park closes after dark. Even if you go to Pandora while it’s light out, loop back through here at park closing if it’s dark. It’s just amazing, and possibly the best single area of all of Disney World.
    • Navi River Journey is a very slow moving, incredibly beautiful boat ride with THE MOST AMAZING animatronic you’ve ever seen. Go on the ride, then watch videos about how they made it. Incredible. Great ride for anyone that can step into a low ride vehicle.
    • Flight of Passage. No words to describe this, and you just have to see it. Made me teary the first few times. Some of my people have motion sickness issues and they have always been fine, but they do post warnings about it. My dad still hasn’t ridden it because he has extreme motion sickness issues, and there are a few parts that I would worry about it just for him. But it might even be worth puking over just to see it, no joke.
